I am so grateful to have the opportunity this summer to participate in the Rising Star Outreach program in India!!! I will be volunteering from June 20th through July 9th. The program's main goal is to just be able to provide the leprosy colonies a brighter future and help to integrate them back into society. The three main goals that I will have while in India will be:

(1) to educate the colony children in a safe, healthy environment
(2) to provide leprosy patients with their own small businesses using micro-finance
(3) to address the unique health challenges of the colonies with medical units

I have put this blog together to help others know of the program and everything that they do for these people. While in India, I will also be able to post pictures and stories about my experiences with the colony residents and the children in the schools. For right now you can learn more about the program and hear about previous volunteer's experiences with the two links posted below.
