Some more basics about the Rising Star program...

- The way that the RSO school is set up is that if the parents want their children to be enrolled in school here, they have to pay “x” amount for each child each year. Due to past years where the children are sometimes married off at a very young age and are not able to complete their schooling here, they find that if they charge the parents in the colonies a very low rate (something that they can afford with the money that they earn from their microcredit companies set up through RSO), and then promise to pay them back the total sum once their child graduates, their retention rate of children is very high!

-Becky, the lady that is in charge of RSO, shared a story with us last night. There is a boy here named David who was actually one of the first children brought to the school from the colony. With Becky’s help, he was able to go to school for five years in the United States and has now gotten his mission call to southern India (I cannot remember the name of the city) English speaking. Wow…the program really does work!!

** All I can say is to all of my friends and family who helped to make this possible through donating and just support in general, thank you. The help that the children receive here has a huge potential to change their life in many, many ways.
